A Post card view of the Hub about 1905 looking south on Melrose Ave showing the 3rd Ave El, the IRT Subway Kiosk for the line running under 149th St and a northbound trolley on Melrose Ave which will go north on Webster Ave all the way to Yonkers.

1954 photo of the end of Melrose Ave at 149th St after the trolley tracks were paved over. The intersection retains it's importance as a transportation Hub with 3rd Ave El above and IRT subway below and the stinking buses that replaced the trolley cars. This photo matches the 1905 post card view of the Hub.

Almost 70 years later, and the El will be no more. The building in the intersection housed an escalator that went from the El platforms to the subway platform to facilitate the transfer between the two lines.
